Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will explore the Azuchi-Momoyama Period, a time marked by relentless civil war. While the story details are still unclear, it will likely follow Yasuke and Naoe as they assist Oda Nobunaga in his quest to unify Japan.

Seasonal and somewhat destructible world

The open world changes through spring, summer, autumn, and winter, with each season bringing unique weather and terrain changes. This adds realism to the environment.  Each season promises to significantly impacts gameplay.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that the game has a small destructible structure, you can go on a rampage with Yasuke breaking things or use Naoe to shoot shuriken through shoji doors.

The changing season and interactive world will for sure make a unique experience for all players.

The Protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has two protagonists, each with their distinct gameplay.

Yasuke

Yasuke is based on a real person with the same name, believed to be born in Mozambique, he was brought to Japan in 1579 by a Jesuit missionary, he then went on to serve one of the three “Great Unifier” of Japan, Oda Nobunaga.

Players who enjoy the RPG aspect of the newer Assassin’s Creed will find Yasuke enjoyable. Yasuke is a bold fighter who approaches battle head-on, exchanging block, parry, and dodging. Clad in full samurai armor.

Naoe

Naoe is the fictional daughter of Fujibayashi Nagato, a real-life leader of the Iga ninjas. As expected, Naoe's gameplay will be similar to the older Assassin’s Creed games, involving parkour and stealthily approaching targets to deliver the final blow.

Both protagonists play very differently from one another, and each have their own advantages. Where Yasuke can single handedly storm his way through fights, Naoe will have to plan and sneakily approach her target with her new gadget “grappling hook” to reach greater heights.

Ubisoft has confirmed that, players will be allowed to swap between Yasuke and Naoe during their time in the game. However, they will be portion of the game where you are required to use either Yasuke or Naoe.

Whether you prefer the brute strength of Yasuke or the stealthy approach of Naoe, this latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed series will provide a richly immersive adventure that fans have long awaited. Prepare to step into the shadows and shape the fate of Japan.
