Bandai Card Fest 24-25 Kuala Lumpur was held in KLCC this year. The event saw a total of 350 players gathering and competing in Union Arena Tournament. We follow Alan, a dedicated Union Arena player from Sabah, who managed to secure an impressive 51st place.

Alan was one of the few players who took up Union Arena when the game first releases back on March 2023. He had never stop playing the game ever since and has slowly make a name for himself within the Malaysia Union Arena community.

Chapter 1 Preparation

Q: How did you prepare for the Bandai Card Fest Union Arena tournament?

Alan: I prepare for the BCF UA “Union Arena” by constantly analysing which deck that I would most likely meet and how to actually fight them, also spending most time learning meta decks - like their move and etc.

Q: What deck did you brought to the event and why?

Alan: I decided to bring purple slime Rimuru+Hinata deck since I have a reputation online where I am known to be an arknight fan, so I think that most people will expect me to use my yellow arknight and I want to surprise them by using a deck that nobody thought I would get my hands on, but as for the deck itself I think that the deck is very flexible which thrive with the current meta since there are so many power cards that people would have a hard time to actually decide who to get rid of.

Chapter 2 Tournament Experience

Q: As this is your first ever grand event outside of Online and Kota Kinabalu, were you ever nervous?

Alan: Actually, I’m more excited than I am nervous since I have fought people outside of Kota Kinabalu through online as a daily basis, I am happy that I get a chance to battle with them in real life but since I lost a match very early on and it's a 2 lose elimination tournament the more, I play the more nerve wrecking it gets.

(Union Arena Round 3 Starting)

Q: How do you feel about placing 51st out of 350 players?

Alan: I am satisfied with my placing of 51/350; I know I can get a better placing since on the first match that I lost I could have played better but for my first time playing on a major tournament I think 51 is good enough.

Chapter 3 Growth and Future

Q: Any advice for players looking to compete in Union Arena tournaments?

Alan: For those UA players that want to compete in tournaments, don't take this game too seriously. Just have fun, play the game with your favourite series/character/deck, don't feel too disheartened because of a loss since it's the nature of the game, as long as you enjoy playing the game or socialize with people you meet along the way that is good enough.

Q: Will you attend BCF again next year? What changes will you do for your next run?

Alan: I would say that I’ll most likely attend BCF again in the future, I have a lot of fun meeting people from all around the world and socialize with them so I’m looking forward to meeting them again in the future. As for changes I would do, I think that I’ll try to improve my sense of competitiveness since I’ve only seen this year's BCF as a huge event that I can join without the goal of actually winning anything but I think that in the future I will train myself until I’m worthy of bringing some prizes home.

Alan’s performance at Bandai Card Fest is a shining example of what dedication and passion can achieve. As Union Arena continues to grow in popularity in Sabah, players like Alan serve as an inspiration for others to take their skills to the next level.
