Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is not a new game but a new storyline. Players can select the path they wish to follow at the beginning of the game. The “Canon of Creation,” which is the original storyline, or the new one, “Canon of Vengeance,” which, as the new title implies, is a new storyline created for this release. Both stories start the same; however, you’ll start experiencing what the new storyline has to offer during the second half of the game.
So, what’s new?
New Look
What particularly caught our attention is the protagonist's brand-new form! Which is only accessible if you choose the “Canon of Vengeance” storyline. The new form is certainly different from the usual blue looks we’ve recognized “Nahobino” in. The new form wields a sickle as a weapon instead of a sword; other than that, not much is known about this new form.
More Demons and New Mechanics
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance promises to bring more demons than the original game, bringing the total to over 270 demons (the original had 221 demons), with both new and returning demons from the original game. There’s a cute little demon called Nahabeeho who strongly resembles the original form of the protagonist. The game also introduces new gameplay mechanics and skills; however, not much information has been revealed regarding this.
New Characters
The original supporting character from the series will also be here in the new storyline; however, it appears that they will join us in battle now instead of just being a supporting character. A new human character to be introduced to the series is Yoko Hiromine (CV: Chiwa Saito).
Yoko is a third-year student at St. Marina Girls High School; she transferred to Jouin High to assist the protagonist.
