Following its overnight success, Elden Ring created by Hidetaka Miyazaki (FromSoftware President) and George R.R Martin (Author of Game of Thrones) left all fans hungry for more content. Worry not, FromSoftware will be releasing the one and only planned DLC content so far for Elden Ring in June 2024 on all platforms.
Let’s check out what we know so far – We’ll try to keep spoilers on a minimum for new players.
Shadow of the Erdtree Trailer
What's New?
Shadow of Erdtree will, of course, introduce new bosses – ten, to be exact, some of whom you may have seen in the trailer above. Fan theorize that there may be a returning boss who appeared early on in the game.
Since we’re on a new land, we’re bound to meet new host of new NPCS, each likely have their own side quests and motivations. Let’s hope none of them has the same intention as Patches from Demon Souls.
There will also be new armor sets, weapons, and spells to try out. Two new additions that caught our eye were the crossbow machine guns and the big horned bear head. As hilarious as they may seem, we are certain these newly added weapons pack a punch. Messmer is shivering as we speak.
Too strong for late game?
FromSoftware knew that players who can access the DLC are certainly high level with the best weapons and armor. So, to counter this, the expansion will add a new levelling system similar to Sekiro. While this won’t disrupt your existing levels, it means that players won’t be able to just rush through the DLC with their maxed-out gear. Instead, players will now have to engage with the new system and use it in conjunction with their builds to survive in Shadow of the Erdtree.
How do we start Shadow of Erdtree
MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS, proceed with caution
You can’t just choose Shadow of Erdtree in the main menu, you’ll have to put some work into this.
To access the DLC expansion, you will need access to Mohgwyn Dnyasty Mausoleum located in Mohgwyn Palace. You’ll need to defeat the Lord of Blood, to get access to Miquella’s Cocoon.
Moghwyn Palace is only reachable by teleportation. There are two methods to get therel:
-
Complete White Mask Varre’s questline to get the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, which allows you to meet the Lord of Blood himself.
-
Travel to Consecrated Snowfiled in the northeast, and use a waygate to teleport to Moghwyn Palace.
We’ll leave the rest for you to discover on your own.
It’s now or never fellow tarnished, whether seasoned veterans or new players; you have until June to defeat the Lord of Blood.
