One Piece Card Game Biggest News yet!

Are you that afraid of the new era?!!

Over the weekend, players everywhere were eagerly awaiting the latest banlist for the One Piece Card Game. To everyone’s surprise, not only was the new banlist insanely impactful, but Bandai also announced a new system that will change the One Piece TCG competitive in the long run.

The Biggest Ban Yet!

To everyone’s surprise, a total of four cards have been banned. The fact that Moria was banned instead of receiving an errata has confused many Moria mains. Interestingly, this ban has rendered several Black Leaders nearly unplayable—B/Y Luffy is a prime example, as his main combo starter was Moria himself!

Not only are Black players feeling attacked by Bandai with Moria’s ban, but Removal Black players aren’t safe either—Ice Age has also been banned. If future sets don’t introduce new cards to support these affected leaders, I can see swarm decks (Green) rising in popularity again.

Meanwhile, Doffy getting nerfed due to the Jinbe ban was expected. The new Starter Deck made Doffy an absolute beast, significantly increasing Jinbe’s value. However, the Raigo (Kingdom Come) ban is a major blow to Enel players. Similar to Moria’s situation, this card should have been errata’d to be Leader-locked, as it provided too much value to decks like B/Y Luffy and Vegapunk.

Block System Introduced!

Starting next April, One Piece TCG will introduce a rotation system similar to Magic: The Gathering (MTG). Sets from the past three years will be rotated out and will no longer be legal for competitive play—unless reprinted. This marks a major shift for the One Piece TCG competitive scene, ensuring that no deck remains the same and fundamentally changing the game forever.

It is still too early to tell how the new era of One Piece TCG will unfold.
